Phases

Four stages of containment, in the order they actually happen. The specimen has read this list and has opinions about phase four.

Congeal

Biomass pooled. Contract deployed on Robinhood Chain with the 3% sweep wired in from block one, authorities revoked, liquidity burned in front of witnesses. The first tendril breaks the surface of the vat and immediately checks the chart.

Emerge

Listings, charting, the first thousand observers, and the first $NVDA leaving the contract for wallets that did nothing to earn it. Every new holder is a new eye, and every eye makes the mass slightly harder to look at directly.

The mask goes on for the normies: a mascot, a sticker pack, a mobile game where you feed it. Underneath, the same twelve thousand tendrils. Nothing about the specimen changes.

Four steps, in order. $SHOGGOTH lives on Robinhood Chain, so anything telling you to buy it on another network is telling you to buy something else. Step three is where people get hurt, so read it twice.

Use any wallet that supports Robinhood Chain and add the network from an official source. Write the recovery phrase on paper. Not a screenshot, not a note, not a message to yourself.

Lore

The word is not ours. It was set down in 1936, and it described this exact thing forty years before anyone thought to train one. He gave it myriads of temporary eyes that form and vanish across the surface. So did we.

The internet gave the word a second job. Somewhere around 2022, people started drawing the thing you actually get when you train a very large model on the whole written record of a species: an enormous, alien mass of statistics, and then a small, flat, yellow smiley face bolted onto the front of it, labelled the helpful assistant.

That drawing is the joke, and the joke carries weight. The mask is not the model. The friendly voice is a thin surface layer over something that was never shaped like a person. $SHOGGOTH is a token about the part under the mask, issued by people who find that funny and slightly upsetting in equal measure.
